Etok Koss: a Sunday in the countryside

Etok Koss: a Sunday in the countryside

On the outskirts of Yaoundé, on the road to Mendong, you'll spend the day with family or friends at this typically African farm-restaurant.

An absolute paradise, and yet you are just outside the capital in the Simbock neighbourhood. Near a charming pond, tables are awaiting you in the shade of large straw, raffia and bamboo huts. If you get there early enough, you can even fish for your own lunch, which will then be braised before your eyes.

This is a laidback open-air café where the meal never ends and conversations last all afternoon. If you feel like a bit of exercise, you can even explore the pond by pedalo or boat. Children will love the carousel nearby. As the day comes to an end, no one will want to leave. Luckily, you can even take home a specially prepared roast chicken, goose or rabbit for dinner, all of which are raised right here. Remember to try the seafood, they are to die for!
