Set up in the former residence of the French Kings, the Louvre Museum is among the most spectacular and popular in the world, welcoming about 10 million visitors per year. Within departments of painting, sculpture, archaeology and graphic arts, you will be able to contemplate masterpieces such as the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo and the Raft of the Medusa.
The museum's architecture is typical of the classical period, with an added touch of modernity due to the glass pyramid created in 1989 by Ieoh Ming Pei. With more than 400 exhibition rooms, the art sweeps over large geographical areas, from Western Europe to Asia or Greece. From the inside of this huge building, you will also enjoy exceptional vistas over some of Paris' most beautiful sites: the Pont-Neuf bridge and the Île de la Cité, the Orsay Museum… Do not leave the Louvre without strolling around the Tuileries, located in the axis of the museum: you will walk around landscape gardens that also convey a sense of history.
